Where did the summer go?

Earlier this year I reflected on my 30 years work experience and began to really realise the value of it (and of me).  The skills and knowledge that I have acquired over those years enable me to support others who may be experiencing, for the first time, challenges I have faced and overcome.   I also realised, however, that at times over the past 30 years I have sometimes not valued the lessons that life was teaching me and have repeated mistakes many times – in particular that of working too hard to prove my worth and then burning out.

As we approach the end of October and think about turning back the clock to gain an hour I am mindful of time and am reaffirming my commitment to myself and my family to maintain a healthy work/life balance.    Maintaining healthy boundaries in relation to work and home life is not easy – saying yes and taking more on comes naturally to me, particularly when the work I am asked to complete aligns with my desire to support schools to get the best out of every penny of their budget.   When organisations, royalty and celebrities came together last week to shine their lights on World Mental Health Day I had every good intention to write this much overdue blog but as I tried to find time to write it life happened.  So here we are mid October and I am writing my first blog in four months… the advice I wish to share… maintain healthy boundaries that enable you to enjoy life at home as well as at work… it is essential for your health and the health of your relationships.  This month make time to talk, make time to connect, make www.time-to-change.org.uk
