Are you working to hard to notice what beauty exists around you?

The month of May sees a national focus on mental health with Mental Health Awareness Week taking place from 13th – 19th May.  The week saw a number of high profile celebrities speak out about their own experiences of mental health which got us thinking here at RBMA about our own mental health and how it was impacted by how little time we used to have to stop and reflect.

This picture was taken by Lead Consultant Rebecca Beaver on a recent walk around Calke Abbey, a beauty spot less than five miles away that she hadn’t made time to visit in around 8 years!  The stillness and calmness it represents is a reminder of how important it is to make time to stop and enjoy the view.  A period of reflection during April enabled Rebecca to identify that she had worked too hard for a very long time, further analysis of the reason for this identified the reasons why Rebecca had spent a lifetime  working too hard.  This has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to prevent overworking and neglect of self care in the future.

We encourage you to find time this month to take a moment to identify an area in your life that is out of balance, spend some time thinking about why you do what you do and then put measures in place to begin to rebalance your work and home life.  We need time when we can be still to reflect on all that surrounds us to notice the beauty.
